What I Just Finished Reading (WIJFR) Storm Front by Jim Butcher

This is the first book in the Harry Dresden novels. When I first started dating D, he recommended the series by saying, "it's about a wizard detective in modern day Chicago." That alone piqued my interest and I'm glad I read it. I believe it was one of Jim Butcher's first novels, and while it was good, you could tell it was his first. The editing wasn't the best (not really his fault) and I remember a couple of inconsistencies. He mentioned that Harry's date with Susan was on Saturday night and later that night he was saying that it was almost midnight on Friday.

The book starts off with Harry being called into a crime scene where two people had died from having their hearts ripped from their chest. According to Harry, the only person who could have done it is a wizard. As he is the only known wizard, he becomes the primary suspect. Not only by the police but by the White Council, which is governed by a group of wizards. He is already on their watch list, so of course this does not bode well for Harry.

Harry has to find out who murdered these people, find the missing husband and clear his name. All the while dealing with a mob boss, the police and his handler from the White Council.
